AMRITSAR: Condemned prisoner Sarabjit Singh facing death sentence in Pakistan is reportedly being denied necessary treatment for his eyes in the Kotlakhpat Rai Jail near Lahore west of Pakistan.
“Necessary medical treatment for my ailing eyes being denied by the Jail Authority in Pakistan”, Sarabjit Singh conveyed his tale of sordidness to his Sister Dalbir Kaur in a letter written from the Pakistan’s prison. The letter was received last evening by Dalbir Kaur sister of Sarabjit Singh resident of border village Bikhiwind nearly 40 kilometers away from the holy city of Amritsar. Telling his tale of woe in the letter Sarabjit Singh said that day by day he was loosing his eyesight since multiply visions appears before his eyes and unable to view the clear object with his eyes. Letter further said that in this regard Sarabjit Singh has narrated his eye sight’s ailment before the Jail superintendent of Kot Lakhpath Rail Jail but jail authority turned deaf ears but threatened him for dire consequences if the health related problems is highlighted time and again. Letter further alleged that the behaviour of the jail staff is clumsy even hardly bother to serve him two square meal, besides lodged him in the dingy cell which is badly unhygienic for his deteriorating health. However, Dalbir Kaur has sent the copy of the letter to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to hold dialogue for his early eye’s treatment besides his safe home coming on Indian soil from Pak territory. However, Pakistan police has so far alleged in the court of law that all 14 people were killed in the four bomb blasts allegedly carried out by the Indian national Sarabjit Singh as he was an Indian spy and entered Pakistan through the Punjab border to disturb the peace and tranquility of the Pakistan. Earlier petitions to the courts, including the Supreme Court in Pakistan, Sarabjit said he had inadvertently crossed the border in the influence of liquor and later caught by the Pakistani police and wrongly implicated in the fake cases. Now Dalbir Kaur and family is praying for clemency from Pakistan President and also appealing to the Government of India, especially the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh to use his good offices in securing release of SarbjIt Singh from Pakistani gallows on humanitarian grounds. Sarabjit in his letter claimed, “ I have been unlawfully framed in fake bomb blasts cases inspite of the facts I have nothing to do with all the allegations imposed on me by the Pakistan police”.
