AMRITSAR: Expressing concern over the present state of affairs of school education, Dr. M.S. Gill, Union Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs said that Centre and State Governments should give priority to the school education. Only then the quality could be brought in higher education.
Dr. Gill was addressing the faculty, students and staff of the Guru Nanak Dev University here today at the Varsity Conference Hall after inaugurating the indoor shooting range and Asia House building of the varsity. Prof. Dr. Jai Rup Singh, Vice-Chancellor welcomed Dr. Gill. Dr. Gill said improvement in higher education could only be made if due attention is given towards school education and health services by the State and Central Governments. The Sports Minister desired that the Centre for South-Central Asian Studies of the Guru Nanak Dev University should seriously undertake the socio-economic, political and ethnic study of South Central Asian countries. This centre should also bring out research journal of international repute in which articles on oil, gas, political, religious, economic and ethnic disparities should be included for the use of scholars and researchers. |
