LUDHIANA: Late Lala Jagat Narayan former Chief Editor Hind Samachar Group of newspapers, who was assassinated by terrorists was remembered at a function organized to observe his 27th Shaheedi Diwas by people for Orphan Organisation and Bhagwan Parsu Ram Sewak Sangh at his Samark near Ladhowal Sunday.
Prominet among others who paid their tributes included Manoranjan Kalia Local Bodies Minister, Bikram Singh Majathia Minister for Information and Public Relations, Water and Sanitation, Science and Technology, Sat Pal Gosain Deputy Speaker, Darshan Singh Shiwalik, Harish Rai Bedi, Ishar Singh Meharban (all MLAs), S. Manpreet Singh Ayali Chairman Zila Paruishad, Maninderjit Singh Bitta Chairman Anti Terrorist Front and Vijay Chopra Chief Editor Hind Samachar Group. Paying his tributes Kalia said that Lala Jagat Narayan was a great patriot, who had participated in the freedom movement and under went Jails during the emergency to protect the freedom of press. He said that Lala ji raised a strong voice against the decisive forces and laid down his life for the preservation of unity and integrity of the country. He said that Lala ji though his writings had been mobilizing a strong public opinion against the anti national element and the people of the state had a great respect for him. He said that Punjab Chief Minister who could not personally attend the function had also told him to pay homage on his behalf and assure the family all kind of support of the Govt. in their endeavor to strengthen love and amity among the society. Majithia in his address said that Lala ji was not just a great personality of his time but he was an institution in himself. He said that Hind Samacha Parivar had always stood with the distressed people and had been continuously helping the victims of various atrocities in a big way. He said that S, Parkash Singh Badal Chief Minister Punjab had always appreciated the initiatives of the Group for the service to the suffering humanity. He said that the real tribute to Lal ji would be to follow his footsteps to further strengthen the peace and mutual brotherhood among the different sections of the society in the state. Prominent among other who were present on this occasion included OP Bharadwaj District President BJP, Anil Sareen Secy BJP, Jagmohan Sharma, Vijay Danav, Daljit Singh Greweal, Raju Thappar (both Councilors), Ramninder Singh Sunny, Ramesh Joshi and Mahant Narayan Dass Puri. |
