NAWANSHEHAR: Upkar coordination Society, a local NGO engaged in fighting the social evils like female foeticide and drugs, Saturday launched five vehicles, one for each block of the district, as part of its awareness programme.
Each of these vehicles has been equipped with loudspeakers and literature etc. for creating awakening among the masses against these evils. DC Nilkanth Avhad flagged off these vehicles from SDM office here this morning. DC who was accompanied by his wife Prajikta Nilkanth on the occasion, stressed on the need of constant campaigning for changing the mindset of the people on issues like foeticide. Earlier, a rally was taken out in the town by Upkar activists. Noted social activist Baba Naubat Rai led the march.
