PANJOLI: The confident of late Gurcharan Singh Tohra and SGPC member from Fatehgarh sahib Karnail Singh Panjoli on Wednesday has joined Shiromani Akali Dal.
The announcement came when SAD's president Sukhbir Singh Badal today visited his house here. Sukhbir Singh Badal was accompanied with general secretary Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, former SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badunagar and SAD's MLA from Sirhind Didar Singh Bhatti. Later Panjoli was honoured in big rally which Panjoli has organized to celebrate birthday of late SGPC chief Gurcharan Singh Tohra. The ground for his inclusion in SAD was prepared by Prem Singh Chandumajra. Chandumajra had arranged a dinner at his residence last week to honor Punjab chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal during latter's sangat Darshan in Patiala city. Kanjoli, friend of Chandumajra, was also invited at that dinner party. Badal met Panjloi at dinner meet and requested him to join hands of Sukhbir Singh Badal. Chandumajra had played mediator role for Panjoli's inclusion in party. Panoli along with late Gurcharan Singh Tohra had deserted Parkash Singh Badal in 2000 when Badal was chief minister and given full support to late Gurcharan Singh Tohra for forming Sarab hind Shiromani Akali Dal. The breakaway group of Akali Dal headed by Tohra had forced Badal to face defeat in 2002 assembly elections. |
