BDS admission in Punjab: 2nd counselling cancelled now counseling will be on Sept 27 and 28 Print E-mail

PATIALA: The extended 2nd counselling for the BDS seats in vacant government and private colleges of the state, held by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences and Research, has been canceled and  counseling will be held afresh on September 27 and 28 of this month.

 

Students, who have already taken admission in management quota in private colleges, came and sought admission in government quota in private colleges. They were denied and told that this was 2nd round of extended 2nd counselling and they have already taken admission in the various colleges and they will not entertain afresh. The denial of admission in government quota seats irked students and they stage protest there and have raised slogans against Punjab government.

Students who were having higher rank have alleged that they got admission in management quota and paid fee 2.40lacs per annum and those who have got much less rank has been admitting in government quota for fee 62000/- per annum.

The authorities by looking protest of students and parents have cancelled the counseling.

The director of medical education and research Dr. JS Dalal confirmed and said that 2nd round of 2nd counseling was called by Baba Farid university as dental council of India (DCI) has approved more seats in various colleges and some vacated after the surrender of All India quota was also there. He said that looking at the grievances of the people the government has canceled the counselling.

Baba Farid University of Health Sciences Faridkot has called counselling of students for Extended 2nd round of counselling today here at Government medical college for making admission to the seats vacated after the surrender of All India quota seats, vacant Government / Management quota and the seats that have been added with fresh permission to new colleges for BDS course.

DCI, recently, has approved 100 seats in Adesh Institute of Dental Sciences & Research, Bathinda, approved from 60 to 100 seats in Dasmesh Institute of Research & Dental Sciences, Faridkot, approved from 60 to 100 seats Desh Bhagat Dental College & Hospital, Muktsar, approved from 60 to 100 seats, approved 100 seats Gian Sagar Dental College & Hospital, Banur , approved from 60 to 100 seats in Guru Nanak Dev Dental College & Research Institute, Sunam, approved from 60 to 100 seats in Luxmi Bai Institute of Dental Sciences & Hospital Patiala and approved from 60 to 100 seats in National Dental College & Hospital Gulabgarh, Dera Bassi, Distt. Patiala.

Apart from these 400 additional seats, 85 seats were already lying vacant in all 13 including two government colleges of the state.
