ISLAMABAD: The wheat subsidy announced by the Punjab government to control a surge in wheat prices would prove beneficial if implemented properly.
The government has fixed the price of a 20-kg flour bag at Rs 420. A subsidised 20-kg flour bag is being sold to registered Nanbais for Rs 250 Punjab Food Secretary Irfan Elahi, talking to a private TV channel, said that as far as the input cost was concerned the government had reduced it to quite an extent. "We are giving a 20-kg flour bag to the 'Nanbais' for Rs 250 and a 100-gram roti is being sold for Rs 2". "Our enforcement teams are ensuring all the process. Effective steps are being taken to ensure smooth implementation of this policy so that all complaints in this regard could be addressed" he added. |
