CHANDIGARH: Punjab has procured about 15.70 lakh tonnes of paddy till Sunday, an official spokesperson said.

Pungrain procured 3,46,197 tonnes of paddy (25.2 per cent), MARKFED bought 3,24,013 tonnes of paddy (23.6 per cent) and PUNSUP purchased 3,19,190 tonnes of paddy (23.3 per cent), he said.

Punjab State Warehousing Corporation procured 1,93,454 tonnes of paddy and 1,68,305 tonnes of paddy was procured by Punjab Agro, he added.

The Central Government Agency FCI procured only 20,079 tonnes of paddy (1.5 per cent)and the Millers procured 1,99,639 tonnes of paddy (12.7 per cent).

The mandis in Amritsar division recorded 6,27,993 tonnes of paddy with Tarn Taran recording maximum paddy to the tune of 1,79,329 tonnes. The mandis of Ferozepur division recorded 8,51,861 tonnes of paddy with maximum of 3,24,913 tonnes of paddy being recorded by Ferozepur district.
