CHANDIGARH: Former chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh Tuesday accused Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for gross violation of rule of the land and vowed to wipe out Akalis from Punjab in next elections. He also predicted that the change of guard in Punjab will come after the next Lok Sabha polls.
"The SAD-BJP government will have no moral right to remain in Punjab after its defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in the state", he said while expressing confidence that the Congress would win all the 13 Lok Sabha seats in the state. Addressing meet the press programme at the Press Club here, Capt Singh, who is also the Chairman of the Punjab Congress Campaign Committee claimed that the people of the state had already turned against the SAD-BJP government and the Badal's in prticular. Replying to a querry, he said that the cases being filed against him was a strategy of the SAD-BJP to " tie him down" so that he does not take active part in the election campaign. "I have been entrusted with a responsibility by the party and i will carry it out to defeat the Badal's", he added with confidence. Asked about the issues he intended to highlight during the Parliamentary polls election campaign in Punjab, Capt Singh said that he intended to be positive. " We will take the achievements like the nuclear deal and other issues before the people, I will not take up issues related to myself before the people", he said while pointing out that the people of Punjab were aware of the vendetta politics of the Badal family. Capt Singh said that after the state Congress intended approaching the Election Commission of India (ECI) for declaring Punjab as a sensitive state and total deployment of central forces. In this context he refered to the manner in which the state machinery was used by the government in the Zila Parishad and Panchayat polls held recently. The former chief minister claimed that the Akalis had sent some of their youth supporters to Bihar to study the " rigging pattern" in that state. The Congress will be vigilant against any designs of the Akalis to rig the Lok Sabha elections, he added. Amarinder Singh said that he was expelled from Vidhan Sabha for alleged exemption of 32.10 acres of land from development scheme in Amritsar Improvement Trust. He said that he had only followed the policy of previous government of Badal. He said that during Badal's tenure 87 acres of land was exempted. He said that the inquiry shall also cover 87 acres land. He said that somebody had tried to get information through RTI about the exemptions done by Badal govt but government has claimed that dicuments pertaining to querry are missing from the record. He also said that his government had almost finalised deal with TATA for Nano car project. He said that Punjab was among the four states being considered by TATA,. He said that due to lack of interest by Badal, the project was allocated to West Bengal and now it is going to Gujarat. |
