CHANDIGARH: A young woman admitted to the Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital, near here, was saved from the clutches of death as she was suffering from loss of power in all the four limbs suffering from the guillain barre syndrome.
Meena, aged 39 years, was shifted to the GSMCH in a critical state with history of loss of power in all the four limbs and septicaemia. The patient when admitted to the Gian Sagar Medical College and Hospital was semi conscious and had difficulty in breathing. Her relatives had lost all hope of her survival. She was immediately shifted to the ICU under the expert supervision of Dr Jasbir Kaur, chief intensivist and professor and head of the Department of Anesthesia. She was given intensive care in the form of appropriate ventilator support and close monitoring. Her blood pressure was restored and the patient's general condition improved and stabilized. The patient had a stay of two months in the hospital where she recovered her power in all the four limbs due to vigorous physiotherapy and continuous extensive monitoring and nutritional therapy. She eventually recovered and is now breathing of her own eating a normal diet, can speak of her own and is moving with a support. The patient's relatives have been all praise for the hospital staff for their continuous laborious efforts.
