CHANDIGARH: The Punjab & U.T Chandigarh Postal Circle observed the 'World Post Day' on 9th October, which marks the beginning of the National Postal Week celebration from October 9 to October 15.
Addressing a press conference on the occasion, Prithvi Raj Kumar, Chief Postmaster General, Punjab & U.T Chandigarh says that the National Postal Week is an occasion to reach out the customers to understand their expectations and to improve or expand the services according to their requirements. Post office has planned few things to introduce this week. From 10th October, the service of e-money order will start. Sale of gold coins through post offices in Jalander, Ludhiana will start from 14th Oct. and the service will be expanded further to other places later. As 11th Oct. will be celebrated as 'Mail Day', school children will visit the post offices and will get the knowing of functioning of post offices. On 10th Oct., 'Savings bank day' will be celebrated and customer meet will be held at divisional HQ to apprise people about savings and other financial schemes. Mr. Prithvi Raj also informs that 1.5 crore accounts have been opened in the country, out of which 15,000 are in Punjab, for the payment of allowances through Post offices under NREGS of govt. of India. Moreover, Rs 5.6 lakh crore of savings have been mocked up through India Post saving bank. 'PLI day' will be celebrated on 15th Oct. and RPLI melas will be held in all the divisions. Philately day and business development day will be observed on 13th Oct. and 14th Oct. respectively. The Postal circle is also organizing 'All India cycling tournament' from 14th Oct. to 16th Oct. in Ludhiana. |
