PHAGWARA: Three persons were killed on the spot while eleven others sustained serious injuries in a head-on collision between  a Punjab Roadways bus and a mini bus near toll plaza near Behram between Phagwara and Banga on Friday.

Acccording to the reports received here, that the mini bus was coming from Behram. After reaching close to the toll barrier it tried to overtake a truck and in a bid to so it rammed into Punjab Roadways bus coming from the opposite side.

The passengers in the mini bus were returning to Jalandhar after attending a religious function.

The deceased were identified as Amit Kumar (33), Akhil Jain (16), both residents of Jalandhar, and Sunil Kumar (25) of a village near Adampur.

The injured included Maga Lal, Rakesh Kumar,Thakur Lal,Pushpender, Satnam Singh, Manohar Lal, Punit Jain, Raj Kumar, KuldipRaj and Pushpinder Jain, all residents of Jalandhar,and Kuldip Singh of village Hardasspur were admitted in Dhahankaleran hospital.The deadbodies of the deceased were sent to Banga Hospital for postmarterm examination.Behram Police has registered a case against mini bus driver.However both vehicles were badly smashed in the mishap.
