AMRITSAR: Destiny didn't allow the Pakistani prisoner Asif (32) to go back home as he died here in the Government hospital.
According to the Jail authorities Pak prisoner died last evening when he was being shifted at civil hospital Amritsar where he was declared brought dead. According to the sources, last evening Asif complained severe chest pain to the jail authorities which did not bother, but when his pain went intolerable then Jail authorities decided to shift him outside jail hospital but he died before shifting. Jail Authority claimed that Asif was suffering from tuberculosis ever since, he was lodged in the jail. Asif was arrested in the year of 2007 under the violation of Indian Passport act when he entered in the Indian Territory without passport and other necessary travel documents. Asif was shifted from Gurdaspur jail to Amritsar Central jail after the completion of his jail sentence. Recently he was also provided consular access by the New Delhi based Pakistan High Commission. He was expected for repatriation in the next couple of weeks to Pakistan. |
