SHIMLA: The State Government on Saturday entered into an agreement with M/s Samtech Infonet Ltd. for executing two major projects of State Government.

Subhasish Panda, Director, Information Technology on behalf of the Government of Himachal Pradesh in the presence of B.K. Aggarwal, Secretary, Information Technology signed the agreement. B.K. Aggarwal said that the objective of AGRISNET is to create an interactive interface for Government to Citizen (G2C) for farmers and Government-to-Government (G2G) services for the Departments of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. He said that the proposed system would maintain a database of information about various activities of the respective departments. He said that video conferencing facility would also be provided to the farmers of the State to interact with experts in field of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries. He said that training has been imparted to about 500 employees of these departments and added that hardware and system software has been supplied and installed in the departments and at the district level in the first phase. He said that infrastructure down to block level would be provided in the second phase after the portal and application for AGRISNET is developed.
