ROPAR: Five persons including four members of a family of Panchkula, were killed in a road accident near village Toansa on Ropar-Jalandhar road about 15 kilomteres from here Thursday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 1 PM when the Honda city car no.CH 04P –8461 ,collided with a BSF ambulance no. PB 08S-0500, coming from opposite direction. As a result of the collision four members of family residing in sector 8 of Panchkula, traveling in the car along with driver, were killed. The deceased have been identified as Pardeep Gupta (55), his wife Renu Gupta (50), daughters Anchal Gupta (21) and Megha Gupta (18) and car driver Bharat. Pardeep Gupta, his wife Renu and driver Bharat died on the spot while their daughters succumbed to their injuries on their way to Ropar civil hospital. The family was going to Vaishno Devi for paying obeisance there when the tragedy struck with it in the form of an accident. A case under section 279,304-A, 337,338 and 427 of IPC at Kathgarh Police station against the ambulance driver Pritam Chand, who has been arrested by the police. Heart rendering scenes were witnessed at Ropar civil hospital where the bodies of the victims were kept for post mortem as relatives of the family started gathering at hospital after the accident. Abhinay, studying in + 2 , is the only survived member of the family after the tragedy as he lost his parents and two sisters. An Inconsolable and shocked Abhinay told that it was a bolt from the blue for him. He said his parents and sisters had left for Vaishno Devi in a cheerful mood but no body had expected that they would meet with such a fate. He said the wedding of his sister Anchal was fixed for October 1 and the tragedy had shattered all the dreams of family. |
