Punjab government provides three crores to facilitate the people |

PHAGWARA: Punjab Government will provide Rs Three Crores to each Class-! Nagar Council, Rs Two Crores to each Class-!! and Rs One Crore to each Class-!!! Muncipal Committee of the state to provide better drinking water and sewerage facilities to the people.
The amount would be available within one week.This was confirmed by Phagwara Nagar Council Executive Officer Adarsh Sharma while talking to this correspondent here this afternoon.He said,Phagwara Nagar Council will install three new tubewells raising the numbers of tubewells to 25 and all old water pipes would be replaced with this amount.E.O however admitted that more than thirty tubewells were required in Phagwara.When asked about increasing illegal encroachments in Phagwara town,Nagar Council President Balbhadhar Sein Duggal and EO Sharma said that no illegal encroachment would be allowed in the town and stern action would soon be initiated against encroachers. They said that Rs Seven Crores were being spent on the development of the town.They said a "Children Park" would soon be set up near Freedoom Fighter Hall in local town hall by spending an amount of Rs Ten Lacs.Both Duggal and Sharma disclosed that one Sewerage Treatment Plant has been set up at Palahai Road and the other sewerage treatment plant would soon be set up in Hadiabad a sub town of Phagwara.They claimed that better sanitation,street lights,and strengthened roads would be provided to the residents on top priority.They said that several people including mini stall owners and rehrriswalas were observed installing their commercial set up under the Satnampura and JCT Flyovers,which would be considered as clear encroachment and they would be dealt with firm hands. |
