PATIALA: Punjab State electricity Board (PSEB) will seek more time to file Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) and Tariff Petitions with Punjab state electricity regulatory commission (PSERC) as only one day has left to file it according to Electricity Act, 2003.
Highly placed sources said here on Thursday that PSEB has given this job to its consultants 'Feedback benchers' to finalise it. According to electricity Act it is mandatory that PSEB should file ARR with PSERC before November 30 every year.
When contacted, K.K. Singla. Chief Engineer Commercial of PSEB confirmed that consultants have been preparing ARR since one month and when asked will board meet the deadline he replied that two more days left for it and they will take appropriate decision regarding filing it.
Normally, Board has been taking time from the commission for filing ARR and tariff petition.
Last year Punjab Government has reportedly told Punjab state electricity Board (pseb) not to sought power hike for next fiscal year and matter has been left for the decision on new power tariff on Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC).
In the ARR, the PSEB had presented a gap of Rs. 5,200 crore between the revenue earning from all sources and actual spending on running the power supply system in the state.
Normally PSEB is supposed to file the revenue retirements along with expenditure details before PSERC by the end of November every year. PSEB has not yet filed the ARR before commission who is to finalise the tariff for next year.
Last year, PSERC had taken suo motu notice regarding revision of tariff as PSEB had failed to file ARR due to political reasons even in the extended period it had sought from commission. The revised tariff order was issued in JUNE.
Meanwhile PSERC has sought proposals from the interested Consulting Agencies for processing Annual Revenue Requirement (ARR) and Tariff Petition(s) of the Punjab State Electricity Board(PSEB) and other related issues till December 15, 2008.
When contacted, Ex Power advisor of the state, Padamjit Singh said that ARR was the regular war between the consultants of Board and Commission. He however justified the appointment of consultant by the commission on some extent and said that PSEB has enough staff to prepare the ARR and board should prepare its ARR at its own.
