CHANDIGARH: The security forces in Punjab, Haryana and UT of Chandigarh have been put on high alert in wake of terror attack in Mumbai.
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Haryana Chief Minsiter Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Punjab Governor Gen(Retd) S.F.Rodrigues strongly condemned the terrorist attack.
The security was beefed up at Amritsar and Chandigarh airports. The police force was also deployed outside the Taj Hotel and other hotels and public places of tourist interest in Chandigarh and Punjab.
Haryana Government strengthened its security measures in the State. A spokesman of Haryana Home Department said that instructions have been issued to Commissioner of Police, Gurgaon,all Deputy Commissioners, all Superintendents of Police, all Deputy Commissioners of Police in Gurgaon and Superintendent of Police Railways, Ambala Cantt. to ensure special vigil and strengthening of security arrangements. He said that they have also been directed to pay special attention towards the security of foreigners staying in various parts of the state including in hotels and guest houses.
In a statement here, Punjab Chief Minister described the incidents as "most tragic and most reprehensible". He said no religion preaches hatred, violence and killing of innocents". Badal also said the nation must stay united and maintain peace and communal harmony at all costs. Badal also conveyed his heartfelt condolences to those who have suffered in the Bombay strikes.
General Rodrigues said that there is no place for violence in a democratic society, based on the principles of peaceful living & co-existence and such ugly happenings, aiming to disturb peace and tranquility, need condemnation by all right thinking people. He conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the members of bereaved families and wished a speedy recovery, of the injured in this unfortunate tragedy. He also paid his condeolences to the security officials who sacrificed their lives while fighting the anti-national elements.
Expressing their sentiments in no uncertain terms, in a statement here Thursday, thge radical Sikh body Dal Khalsa strongly and unequivocally condemned the various shootouts and bomb blasts in hospitals, hotels and other places in Mumbai that have killed more than a hundred innocent human beings.
Party president H S Dhami and spokesman Kanwarpal Singh expressed grief at the loss of lives and expressed sympathy with the families in their hour of grief. They said that their thoughts and prayers were with those affected by this tragic situation. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families". They demanded a thorough and impartial investigation into the dastardly incidents.
