PATIALA: Commissioner Patiala Municipal Corporation Harkesh Singh Sidhu on Tuesday handed over the orders to stop illegal construction at the plot owned by retired IAS officer SK Ahuluwalia.
Sidhu himself visited the site and presented written orders to Ahluwalia for stopping all construction activity at the plot with immediate effect, following the chief secretary's directions. The decision to stop construction was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal as he attended the office late in the evening on Monday after two weeks. After getting clearance from the chief Minister the chief secretary has ordered stopping all illegal construction activity at the residential plot owned by former IAS officer. Ahluwalia had been carrying out illegal commercial construction on a residential plot owned by him on the busy YPS road and the media had earlier highlighted the same. Following this, an inquiry was instituted into the matter and senior Punjab IAS officer NS Kang had indicted Ahluwalia for illegal constructions at the plot in his probe report. When inquiry was underway Ahuluwalia did hold the additional charge of Commissioner of Municipal Corporation in along with Commissioner of Patiala division. The government had taken a serious note of the illegal activity and misuse of position by Ahluwalia who was earlier Patiala's former Divisional Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner S.K. Ahluwalia. He retired on Oct 31. During inquiry Ahuluwalia did not stop the construction of the building and raised it to fourth floor. The Punjab chief secretary today directed that all construction activity at the plot be stopped with immediate effect and Patiala Municipal Corporation commissioner has been told to implement the orders with immediate effect. However Ahluwalia again violated the orders and blatantly defied the CS orders as construction work at the plot carried on till evening. |
