Two days old girl child buried alive, rescued by people

PATIALA: Residents of Patiala city seemed to have waken up to the reality of  female feticide and a few good samatarians have came forward to save the life of a two days old girl child buried alive in Tripuri area here.

The baby girl was discovered by one of the passerby, who happened to hear the cries of child. The eye-witnesses said that someone had buried the girl child there, probably last night. However, the baby girl was not buried properly and the passerby heard her cries this morning and initiated efforts to save her.

The residents immediately gathered on the scene and the local police was informed about the incident. The girl child was taken out and was rushed to the government Rajindra hospital, where her condition was stated to be out of danger.

The Tripuri police has registered a case under the relevant sections of the Indian penal code against unknown persons and started with investigations to verify the parentage of the girl child. The police said that so far it has not been able to stumble upon any clue that could lead them to the parents of the child. However, the residents of the area were being quizzed to ascertain whether some body had seen anybody burying the child there.
