Rewarding experience under Brett: Parveen, Lalit Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: Parveen Kumar of Chandigarh Sports Council and Lalit Tandon of Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association were among 15 coaches invited by Head to attend the three-day on-court as well as class room workshop conducted by Master coach Bob Brett in New Delhi from September 7 to 9.

Brett was accompained by his staff members Niko and Sanya from his tennis academy at Italy.

As the on-court workshop was strictly by invitation, the class room session on the last day was open and as many as 35 coaches attended the session. Among them were Baldev Singh of St Peter's School, Chandigarh and Karan Golmei of Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association. Lalit and Parveen said "It was a lifetime chance for us to learn from the legendary tennis coach who has shaped the career of like Boris Becker, Goran Ivanisevic, Mario Ancic and Nicolas Kiefer."

"Besides sharing his vast experience with us, The Guru Bob Brett explained the new drills and imparted latest technical knowlege. It was a rewarding experience to be invited for the workshop under Brett," said Parveen and Lalit.\

The agenda of the coaches workshop was divided into three parts. The Part I included to put forward your motivations, life project, sports project, what kind of a sports are we referring to and the coaches jobs and its limits.

The  Part 2  included elements of success in a coaching tennis career. The theme of Part 3 was management of a coach/athlete relation. As many as 72 players took part in the three-day workshop. Among them were Yuki Bhambri, Reshmi Teltumbe, Prerna Bhambri, Sandri Gangotri, Kareena Ahuja,  and Adyna Nayak. Karanvir Singh, Lake Club trainee, Digvijay Singh of CLTA trainee and Mehak Singh from St Peter's School attended the workshop.

The workshop was part of Head's global strategy to spot out budding juniors under its team elite programme.  Head is a leading global manufacturer and marketer of premium sports equipment. Delux Sports International (Batala, Punjab),  provides quality sports equipment.

It was on the initiatative of Neeraj Aggrawal, Marketing Manger of Delux Sports International, Bob Brett came to India to conduct the workshop at Sri Fort Sports Complex Khelgaon, New Delhi.
