FATEHGARH SAHIB: Senior congress leader and Member Parliament from Patiala Preneet Kaur Monday said that Amritsar BJP MP Navjot Sidhu is not any threat for Congress if he decideds to contest assembly election from Patiala. In democracy every body has the right to contest, she added.
She said that Shiromani Akali Dal should appreciate the performance of present government, which had initiate a large number of development works in the state. While answering a query on objections raised by Shiromani Akali Dal General Secretary Sukhbir Singh Badal on hiding of some facts by the state government, Preneet Kaur said that the magazine gave rating to Punjab on overall performance and not of individual basis. She said that Akalis should appreciate the development being done by Congress government with open mind as even India Today in its survey had declared Punjab as number State in the field of development and President of India has honoured the Chief Minister. She urged the people not to be misled by the false propaganda of Akalis against the state government. On Ludhiana City Scam, she refused not comment. She said that only CM can comment on it better. She termed the controversy between Patiala Mayor and Commissioner as unfortunate and said that there are small differences in every family and hoped to sort it out soon. She said that the CM would soon sort all types of difference. She expressed concern over female feticide and said that present PNDT ACT has many flaws to deal strictly; she said that she had already talked to Women Commission Chairperson to stress for new introduction of new Act in Parliament to plug the loopholes in PNDT Act.
