Free eye testing camp marks Health Day

PATIALA: A free eye testing camp was organized at the Patiala Eye Hospital and Lasik Laser Centre today in celebration of the World Health Day.
Dr Sukhdip S. Boparai, Chief Consultant of the Patiala Eye Hospital and Lasik Laser Centre, and Dr Auradha Raj, consultant at the Patiala Eye Hospital and Lasik Laser Centre, examined the patients.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anuradha Raj said that the amniotic membrane transplant was required in cases of corneal ailments which included conditions like chronic dry eyes, corneal thinning and impending perforations. She said that membrane was retrieved from human placenta and it was tested and treated with antibiotics. The hospital recorded a feat by performing a unique amniotic membrane transplant surgery on two patients on the World Health Day.
