CHANDIGARH: Playing like a champion fifth seeded Prabhamrit Kaur of Chandigarh proved the seeding committee wrong as she toppled top seed Baljinder Kaur of Haryana in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in the girls Under-16 singles quarter-final match in the Monsanto AITA Talent Series being played at the CLTA Stadium in Sector 10 here today.

Prabhamrit Kaur along with fifth seed Jaanesh Kaur, fourth seed Poorna and unseeded Roop Saran entered semi-finals. Prabhamrit will now face Jaanesh Kaur and Poorna is pitted against Roor Saran in the all-Chandigarh semi-final matches. The toughest quarter-final match was played between Roor Saran and sixth seed Noor Paul. In a marathon match, Roop prevailed in three evenly-contested sets 7-6 (4), 0-6, 6-4.

In other quarter-final encounters, Jaanesh ended the winning run of Parminder Kaur, also of Chandigarh 6-3, 6-2 and Poorna ousted seventh seed Shilpa Naruka of Chandigarh 7-5, 6-2.

Lake Club trainee Amit Chouhan continued his winning form as he accounted for another seed on way of semi-final. In quarter-final, Amit was stretched to three sets by seventh seed Harry S Amor of Chandigarh. Amit kept his cool to win 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Amit Chouhan, student of Government Model School, Sector 19, will now meet Tejvansh Singh of Punjab in the semi-final. Tejvansh defeated sixth seed Garry S Amor in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-4.

From the top half, Digvijay who had toppled topseeded Chandam Shaolin in a first-round encounter, continued to display his form as he moved into semi-final without dropping even a single game to Ajay Yadav of Chandigarh 6-0, 6-0 in quarter-final. Unseeded Akshat Joshi of
Chandigarh will be his opponent in semi-final. Akshat beat Tanveer Sandhu 6-1, 7-5.

In the boys Under-12 singles Pankaj Kumar, Anmol Singh Bains, third seed Ajay Yadav adn second seed Digvijay S Naruka, all from Chandigarh, advanced into semi-finals.
