CHANDIGARH: On the heels of claims of Pakistan involvement in Mumbai blasts , the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Sunday asked  UPA government in centre to immediately withdraw from peace process with Pakistan.

Rajmath Singh who was here to inaugurate the office of Chandigarh unit of BJP, in a public meeting asked centre government to stop the peace process with Pakistan. He said that if UPA government failed to snap ties with Pakistan, BJP would ‘gherao’ the Parliament.

BJP President said that terror attacks in India were handiwork of Pakistan which needs no more evidence. He said that UPA government was compromising on national security which can’t be tolerated. “We would not allow India-Pakistan talks in present circumstances”, he asserted.

Rajnath Singh recalled that when Pakistan president General Parvez Musharraf had described Kashmir militants, patriots fighting for freedom, former PM Atal Behari Vajpayee had discontinued peace talks. Vajpayee had resumed talks only after Musharraf during UN session in January 2004 gave an assurance to neutralise terrorist set up in his country.

He said that centre government had not taken opposition and Parliament in confidence on any of the issues of national security. He added that let centre government seek the mandate of parliament on Indo-Pak peace talks. He also flayed UPA government for scrapping POTA and TADA in the country. He said that the Pak terrorists who got punishment were only tried under TADA and POTA.

Rajnath Singh took the centre government to task for giving disrespect to national song of ‘Vande Matram’. He said that government had hurt the nationalists by jumbling the date of centenary celebrations of national song observed on September 7 last. He said a day after, the government came out with statement that they didn’t know exact date of centenary.  Can Sonia Gandhi tell the nation what the exact date is and why she hates to sing the national song? , Rajnath Singh asked.

BJP leader said that whenever BJP would return to power, they would amend the constitution to insert the term National Song along with National Anthem and National Flag. “Who does not respect National Song have no right to live in India”, Rajnath said in a oblique reference to Sonia Gandhi.

Interestingly, Rajnath urged the people to give them at least ten years time to make the country developed and world leader. “I can’t promise it in five years but definitely in two terms we will make the difference”, he made a point.

Earlier, Rajnath Singh inaugurated the newly build office complex of Chandigarh BJP. Former BJP MP Satpal Jain and BJP MP from Amritsar Navjot Sidhu welcomed Rajnath Singh on reaching here. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Captain Kanwaljit Singh was also present and later addressed the gathering.
