CHANDIGARH: The Communist Party of India (CPI) today rebutted the statement of CPM state secretary Prof. Balwant Singh in which he had commented on credentials of CPI in the matter of Congress party.
Prof. Balwant had yesterday said that CPI was not serious about defeating Congress and left parties alliance would not be possible. CPI state secretary Jagroop Singh in a hard hitting letter written to Prof. Balwant has blamed the latter for interfering in internal matters of CPI. He said that how could CPI defend the Congress party policies. He cited examples of unemployment, price rise and suicides by farmers during the Congress rule and said that CPI could not support it. CPI leader said that neither CPI nor CPM could stop SAD-BJP alliance from coming to power even as they are deadly against SAD coming to power. He said that during last elections CPI-CPM had fought together but failed to make an impact. He said that left parties should not live in any illusion.
