CHANDIGARH: In recognition of the services rendered by the Punjab Medical Council under the Chairmanship of Prof.(Dr.) Manmohan Singh, the Punjab Government Wednesday extended the tenure of Dr. Manmohan Singh as the President, Punjab Medical Council for another 3 years.
During his tenure as the president for the last 3 years, Dr. Manmohan Singh has registered 35516 doctors with the Punjab Medical Council (upto 31-1-06). The council has also adopted the Indian Medical Council code of Ethics (Professional, Conduct, Etiquette & Ethics) regulation 2002 & 2004. Dr. Manmohan Singh is renowned Cardiologist and Ex-Prof. and HOD of Cardiologist Government Rajindra College & Hospital, Patiala. He is also Chairman of Medical and Anti-doping Commission of Indian Olympic Association. Recently he had also appointed as Member of Common Wealth Games Delhi-2010 and a member of Olympic Council of Asia.
Moga man sentenced under NDPC act Chandigarh: A Moga man facing cases registered under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, was Wednesday sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment for carrying poppy husk.
Additional Sessions Judge BS Sandhu Moga sentenced Darshan Singh under the NDPS Act and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh for keeping poppy husk in his house in Nihalsingh Wala of the district. |
