ANANDPUR SAHIB: Punjab government has handed over an incomplete building of a polytechnic coming up here to a private group. The polytechnic was sanctioned in 1998 by the then Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal.

Certain newspapers had recently carried news about incomplete polytechnic of which 30 building was constructed. While residents of Ananadpur Sahin and surrounding areas were expecting from government to start the polytechnic, it has been handed over to Guru Teg Bahadur Group, a private education society.

Bhattal laid down the foundation stone of this polytechnic college and promised to give preference to the children of this backward region. The SAD government shortly after coming to power stopped the construction.

Present Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh afterr coming to power visited Anandpur Sahib on 16 April 2002 to check the various development projects started by SAD government. He had declared to provide 17 lakh rupees to complete this polytechnic college but during four and half years, the governemnt could not restart the construction of this project.

But now Director Technical Education of Punjab government issued an order in which it is decided to hand over the Guru Teg Badhur Polytechnic College to GTB ( Guru Teg Badhur) group.

On the other hand director of GTB group  Jatinder Singh Atwal told that he was happy to get this project and now they will work hard to run this polytechnic college and provide quality education in the region.

Local residents are also happy in a way that atleast polytechnic would be completed and local youth would get admission here.

Tet, the fate of Guru Gobind Singh stadium at Ananadpur Sahib is handing in balance for the last ten years. Former Chief Minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal had laid the foundation stone of it in 1996

Even after  10 yerars have passed, the construction work of Guru Gobind Singh stadium could not started till now. An expenditure of Rs,25 lakh was estimated for this project at that time.

This foundation stone contained the name of MLA of that time Dr. Ramesh Dutt Sharma and DC  Ropar of that time smt. Vinni mahajan.

When  contacted MLA Anandpur Sahib Dr. Ramesh Dutt Sharma said that a scheme was started by previous congress government to construct sports stadium in every district with the cost of 25 lakhs, but as congress government completed it's tenure,  Parkash Singh Badal closed down this scheme. He blamed Badal for this fate of stadium.
