JALANDHAR: Punjab national bank, Delhi earned their full points in their first match in pool B by defeating namdhari-XI, Sirsa in 26th Servo Indian Oil Surjit Hockey Tournament here at Olympian Surjit Hockey Stadium today.

In the other match of day on poll D, Bharat Petroleum and Corp of Signal, Jalandhar eneded in a draw ans shared one point each..

The match was played on very fast note. In the 17th minute of the play Corp of Signal mounted Pressure on the Bharat Petroleum goals, then Arun Kumar scored the field goal from the left flank from the pass of G Dass (1-0). In the 29th minute of the play Bharat Petroleum equalized. International Star Amar Aiyamma scored the field goal after dodging two defenders (1-1). In the 33rd minute Bharat Petroleum earned the first penalty corner but International star Willam Xalxo not able to utilize it. In the 61st minute of the play Bharat Petroleum wasted second penalty corner. Both teams earned One point each.

In the last match of the day in pool B, played between Namdhari-XI Sursa and Punjab National bank, delhi, was a dull affair. Both teams played midfield hockey and teams failed to get any penalty corner till the 56th minute of the game. Namdhari boys managed to earn their first penalty corner in next minute but their penalty corner expert Gurvinder singh failed to cornet the same in to goal. 58th  minute of the game Namdhari boys made some good moves but the rival goalkeeper Shamsher Singh saved two sure shot goals exhibiting excellent goalkeeping under the bar. In the dying minute of the game, Yudhvir Singh centre forward of bankteam made a solo effort and scored a beautiful field (1-0)  The match ended goalless draw at their stipulated time and both teams shared one point each. The remained stopped about 20 minute due to clash between players. Harpreet Singh and Captain Dilabgh Singh (junior) of Namdhari and Damandeep Singh and Skipper Shamsher Singh given marching orders by the international Umpire Suresh Bhatia.
 
Earlier Mr. Sohan singh Thandal, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (Agriculture), Punjab who was chief guest during the match announced a grant of Rs. 2.00 lacs to the Surjit Hockey Society. Photo attached
