CHANDIGARH: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today expressed profound grief at the untimely demise of noted poetess and fiction writer Sharan Makkar, who expired at Amritsar, on Tuesday night after brief illness.

In a condolence message the Deputy Chief Minister said that Mrs. Sharan Makkar made a niche in Punjabi literature with his unique style in the Punjabi poetry and socially relevant Punjabi fiction.        

Badal expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family in this critical hour and prayed to God to give peace to the departed soul and strength to them to bear this irreparable loss.
