NANGAL: The Congress party has won eight out of 19 seats of Municipal Council of Nangal, the election of which was held after nine years on Tuesday. The BJP has won seven and four seats have been grabbed by independents belonging to Nangal Vikas Parishad.
The BJP claimed that it enjoys the majority since four independents have won with its support. The Congress and BJP are trying hard to grab the post of President of MC. The prestige of sitting MLA Rana K.P.Singh of Congress and Madanm Mohan Mittal former BJP minsiter is at stake. Rana had defeated Mittal in the last assembly elections from Nangal seat. Baljit Kaur from the Nangal Vikas Parishad won from ward No 1. The winning Congress candidates include Harpal Bhasin from ward No 2, Surinder Pamma from ward No 3, Abju Bala from ward No 10, Indu Bala from ward No 11, Paramjit Singh Pamma from ward No 12, Sonia Saini from ward No 13, Shashi Sandal from ward No 14 and Anita Sharma from ward No 19. Winning BJP candidates are Chanchal Sharma from ward No 4, Sukhdev Parmar from ward No 5, Shobha Rana from ward No 7, Rakesh Sharma from ward No 8, Rajinder Hans from ward No 15, Ashok Puri from ward no 17 and Dr Rajinder Kumar from ward No 18. BJP-supported Independent candidates are Ranjit Singh from ward No 6, Rajesh Chaudhary from ward No 9 and Saroj Bala from ward No 16.
