500 Skaters from all over India to compete at KB DAV-7
CHANDIGARH: The 8th CBSE National Roller Skating Championship 2009 will be held here from November 13th to 15th, 2009 at the Roller Hockey Skating Rink of KB DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh, where nearly 250 schools with 500 skaters from all over India shall compete in various skating events of Rink Race and Road Races in the age groups of under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 & 19 years, both boys and girls. 

Addressing a press conference here, Madhu Bahl, Principal, KB DAV-7 & Vice President, Roller Skating Federation of India said, “Our school and Roller Skating run parallel to each other. The school has hosted 1st, 4th and 7th CBSE National Skating Championships, where more than 600 skaters from all five zones i.e. North Zone-1 & 2, South Zone, East Zone and West Zone of India competed in various skating events. We thank CBSE chairman Mr Vineet Joshi, who has given us the privilege to host the mega event. Excellent arrangements have been made to conduct the championship.”


The KB DAV-7 rinks have conditioned many Roller Hockey Indian teams and international artistic skaters to participate in Asian and World Championships. Chandigarh Administration entrusted the responsibility of conducting prestigious 54th National School Games in field of Speed Skating and Artistic Skating from January 8th to 13th, 2009 at KB DAV-7 where nearly 600 skaters from all over India converged to participate in the mega event.

Two international standard skating rinks has held many prestigious national and international coaching camps and tournaments.
 
The inauguration ceremony of the mega event shall take place in the Roller Hockey Skating Rink of KB DAV-7 on November 13th at 4.30 PM at the august hands of Sudha Chandra, Manager, India Tourism Development Corporation and Member, DAV College Managing Committee (DAV CMC), New Delhi. Other eminent guests to grace the occasion shall be Justice A L Bahri, Vice President, DAV CMC, New Delhi and D R Yadava, Regional Officer-cum-Joint Secretary, CBSE, Panchkula.
 
The closing ceremony cum prize distribution function to the winners of the championship shall take place in the Roller Hockey Skating Rink of school on November 15th at 4.30 PM at the august hands of Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs. H R Gandhar, Director (PS-1) & Coordinator, DAV CMC, New Delhi shall preside over the function and D R Yadava, CBSE, Panchkula shall be special guest of honour for the occasion.
