Punjab Police bags All India Police Tennis

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Police team skippered by S.M . Sharma,  ADGP/C&T annexed the team trophy in the recently concluded seventh All India Police Tennis Tournament at Shanti Tennis Academy in Dehradoon. The Punjab Police claimed the trophy for the fifth time and third time in a row. 



Ashish Kapoor emerged champion in open singles and S.M. Sharma was winner in the  veteran singles and doubles. Dr. Arun Sharma claimed the veteran soubles (above 50) trophy.                   

The other members of the Punjab Police team were A. K. Oraon, IPS, DIG/C&T, M. F. Farooqi, IPS, SSP/Khanna, Rakesh Kaushal, Asstt. Comdt. 75 th Bn. PAP, Ashish Kapoor, DSP/D, Tarntaran and Dr. Arun Sharma, SMO 4 th IRB, Jalandhar.

Twenty two state and union territories  teams  and Central Police organizations participated in the prestigious tournament which was inaugurated by Uttranchal Governor Sudarshan Aggarwal and the prizes were distributed by Dass Chief Secretary, and Mrs. Kanchan Chaudhary Bhattacharya DGP, Uttranchal. Punjab Governor Gen (Retd). S.F. Rodrigues (Retd.) honoured the members of the winning team  at PAP Jalandhar on Friday.
