Thapar University confers Honoris Causa to Preneet Kaur Print E-mail

PATIALA: Preneet Kaur, Minister of State for External Affairs, Government of India, was awarded Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) for her outstanding social work by Thapar University here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion Kaur who have won from Patiala parliament constituency for third consecutive time said  “It is a matter of pride that this institute has produced not only world class technocrats, but its students have made their presence felt in other spheres also,
including the country’s premier civil and police services,” she said.

“I am of the firm belief that this institute shall continue to excel in human resource development in different fields and contribute in a big way in nation building and win laurels at the international level as well. I wish the Management, faculty, staff and students the best of everything in the days ahead,” she added.

Preneet KaurCongratulating Preneet Kaur- Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS, who was chief guest said, "My heartiest congratulations to the graduating students and to Mrs. Preneet Kaur. Her being conferred a Honoris Causa should serve as an inspiration to these young people to contribute time and effort to social welfare issues and to work diligently for women’s empowerment.”

Gautam Thapar, President of Thapar University and Chairman & CEO, Avantha Group, said, "Thapar University has provided these students with a very strong foundation on which to build an outstanding career and a bright future. Congratulations and best wishes to all the
students who are graduating here today.”

Dr. Abhijit Mukherjee, Director of Thapar University, said, “Congratulations to all the students. I am confident that they will become the torchbearers of the values and standards of Thapar University. At Thapar University, we not only train our pupils to have sound knowledge and skills, but also nurture them to take responsibility for their surroundings and create a sustained, positive impact on society. These values are embedded in our curriculum.”

Thapar University also announced the inauguration of new facilities at the campus. These include hostels for students, faculty residences, a laboratory, a cultural centre, an amphitheatre and a shopping arcade. The university also announced the foundation laying ceremony for Thapar Polytechnic College (Entrepreneur Development and Skill Development Centre).
