CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Lawn Tennis Association will promote tennis in Mohali and its surrounding area. Organising one-month coaching camp at the Yadavindra Public School courts is the first step in this direction.
Giving this information here today, CLTA chairman Rajan Kashyap said, "the integrated and fitness tennis coaching camp is aimed at attracting the youngsters to adopt tennis as part of their daily fitness programme and later choose this discipline as their career."
The camp will be open to all age groups for boys and girls. The camp is schedule to start on December 16. Intensive training will be provided from 2.30 to 5.30 p.m. and it will be divided into three sessions. "Depending upon the response for the camp, the CLTA will take necessary action to continue to extend providing training to non-YPS players. We will review the situation and after discussing with the Director Coaching Gajendra Singh and the YPS authorities, necessary steps would be taken," said Rajan Kashyap, who is also vice-president of the All India Tennis Association.
The CLTA is already running coaching centre at the YPS, which is an affiliate of the association.
The CLTA will be deputing AITA level I trainer Dinesh Kumar and assistant coach Vijay Yadav for the integrated and fitness tennis camp. Keeping in view the fitness part of the players, the association has also attached physical trainer Balwinder Singh with the camp. A player willing to join the camp will have to pay Rs 1,000 per hour for one month.
The CLTA regularly organizes coaching camps from time to time and renowned coaches of India and abroad are invited to train the players.
