Hooda stakes claim over Chandigarh, seeks separate HC
CHANDIGARH: Haryana would soon file an appeal with the Supreme Court of India for early release of water in Hansi-Butana link canal.

This was stated by Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda while speaking at a function organised by District Bar Association in Rohtak Tuesday.

The Chief Minister said that all farmers of Haryana were equal to him and he was keen to get them irrigation water without any discrimination. He said that the Government was serious about its inter-State issues including that of a separate High Court of  Haryana, but added that the most important issue to be resolved was of water.

While pointing out that Haryana had a strong claim on Chandigarh and that would remain even on future, he said that the State Government was trying to get Haryana’s separate High Court set up in Chandigarh.

After resolving the inter-State issue of water, it would not take long to resolve the issues of a separate High Court and State’s capital, he added.

While referring to the allegation of trading of MLAs for  formation of new Government, Hooda said that he did not contact independent MLAs, but they themselves approached him. He said that the MLAs of Haryana Janhit Congress(BL) who had joined the Congress, had voluntarily come under the fold of Congress party. He said that the approach of the Government for  development could be viewed from the fact that during the tenure of Mr Chautala, the plan budget for  the State was Rs.2200 crore whereas the present Government had plan budget for the year amounting to Rs.11,000 crore.

Hooda said that criminal activities have been checked after the formation of the State Government and the business community has heaved a sigh of relief. He said that organised crime had come to an end in the State and the criminals were not getting political protection as was the case during the tenure of the previous Governments. A special vigil was being maintained to check infiltration of criminals from neighbouring States. It was the priority of the Government to create such an atmosphere where people live without any fear.
