Two day Defence Pension Adalat begins

PATIALA: A two day Defence Pension Adalat under the aegis of the Controller General of Defence Accounts, Western Command (PCDA)  and the Ministry of Defence was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. V.K. Chaturvedi, DG(MP&PA) at 115 Armd Workshop Ground at Patiala.



This Pension Adalat being organized on Tuesday at Patiala Cantonment is 96th Pension Adalat in the series of such Pension Adalats being conducted by the Defence Accounts Department since 1987. Paras Ram, PCDA (WC) and other senior officers from MoD, IHQ, DAD and one Armd. Div was also present at the occasion .

As many as 500 ex servicemen attended the adalat , while 125 pre-registration was submitted prior to inauguration of the Adalat.

Speaking on the occasion, Lt. Gen. V.K. Chaturvedi, mentioned that such pension Adalats are the best platforms to resolve the issues as all decision taking authorities are present on the spot. He assured the pensioners present that their problems would be resolved effectively. Lt. Gen. Chaturvedi stressed the need that the pensioners should spread awareness amongst themselves various upcoming policies/pensionary procedures.

He also informed in detail various new procedures having come up as a result of 6th Pay Commission and various benefits granted to Defence Pensioners and also to those in the pipeline. He said that majority of the provisions of 6th Pay Commission have already been implemented while the left over issues are at the final stages of resolution.

Paras Ram, PCDA (WC) mentioned that the Defence Accounts Department is committed to ensure that the Defence Pensioners are paid their pensions timely and correctly by the Pension Disbursement Agencies and any pension related grievances are attended to promptly and to the satisfaction of pensioners.

He also mentioned that 12 DPDOs have come under the jurisdiction of PCDA (WC) from CDA (PD) Meerut and therefore the pensioners drawing pension from these DPDOs should report their grievances to the PCDA (WC) Chandigarh instead of CDA (PD) Meerut. He assured that the pensioners’ interests will be accorded highest priority.

Dr. G.D. Pungle, CDA(Pensions), while speaking on the occasion mentioned that pensioners should keep their pensionary documents in a proper manner to facilitate their appraisal at the time of presentation to Pension Disbursement Authorities. Dr. Pungle also told the pensioners that they should know full details of their entitlements and that they are free to write to CDA (Pension) Allahabad about any issues which remain unresolved at lower echelons.
