CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal urged Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad to immediately release Rs.24.43 Crore for the construction of Guru Teg Bahadur Diagnostic & Superspeciatlity Block in Government medical college Amritsar under up gradation project of Pradhan Mantri Swatsthya Suraksha Yojana.
The Chief Minister pointed out that the State Government had already agreed in principle to pay Rs.2.32 crore for the installation of power sub-station in the Medical College. Responding to the issues raised by Badal, Azad also gave nod to set up a laboratory to detect cases of swine flu at government college Amritsar. He also assured Badal to review the state government’s proposal to raise the share of GoI from 33% to 50% in the state illness fund corpus of the state, as now the state was contributing Rs.67% and share of GoI was 33%. This scheme was applicable to only BPL families for the treatment of life threatening diseases like cancer, heart and kidney transplantation.
