WFI trials for Youth Olympics Qualifier

CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh Wrestling Association secretary Darshan Lal said that the state association will conduct trials for Chandigarh wrestlers on February 18 at 9 a.m. at the Sector 30 Wrestling Coaching Centre. The selected Chandigarh wrestlers will compete in the national selection trials in Sonepat.



The Wrestling Federation of India will conduct selection trials at Sports Authority of India Centre at Sonepat on February 26 and 27. The probables will be picked up for the Youth Olympic Games Qualifier at Tashkent (Uzbekistan) from April 31 to May 2.

Competitions will be held for boys and girls in the following weight categories: Boys (freestyle): 46 kg, 54 kg, 63 kg, 76 kg, 100 kg. Greco-Roman: 42 kg, 50 kg, 58 kg, 69th kg, 85 kg.

Girls (freestyle): 46 kg, 52 kg, 60 kg and 70 kg.

Last date of sending entries to the Wrestling Federation of India in New Delhi is February 20.

The Youth Olympic Games will be held in Singapore from August 14 to 26.
