Koena Rocked the evening with her stunning performance

CHANDIGARH: The Bengali beauty Koena Mitra presented a stunning performance in the second Mega Musical Nite held at Liesure Valley, Sector 10, organized by the Department of Tourism, Chandigarh Administration as a part aof Chandigarh Rose Festival.



The Chief Guest of the evening was .Pradip Mehra , Adviser to the Adminstrator UT. Ram Niwas, Home Secretary UT, Chief engineer, Director Tourism and other senior officials of Chandigarh were also present. The dancing sensation enthralled the audience with her hit performances made the crowd crazy. Fond of dansatation, the diva started her performance on the song “Jee Karda ve Ji Karda” from Singh is King and other hit numbers like “Its Rocking”, “Main teri Dhadkan” and Hit number of film Love Aaj kal “Aahun Aahun”. The audience at the back danced and had a gala time while witnessing the ravishing live dance by Koena.

Today’s evening had a Fashion show, Acrobat Dance and Koena Mitra live dance performance .The evening kicked off with the fashion show in which Mreenal Deshraj and Shahwar Ali walked as show stopper for designer Libas. Designer Riyaz of Libas showcased his spring summer collection. Also Mreenal Deshraj a versatile actress a model and TV celebrity also one of the celebrities in the Nite.. Among her well known roles on Television is her highly appreciated main negative lead in Kahin to Hoga on Star Plus. She has also done main negative lead roles in Doli Saja Ke on Sahara and Sujata on Sony. She has also established herself in full blown positive characters in Ek Ladki Anjani Si on Sony, Kahani Nahi Jivan Hai, Zindagi Teri Meri Kahani on Sahara and Tumhari Khushi Se Hain Hum on DD1.Mreenal also appeared in a cameo in Lucky and in several episodes of Sssh Koi Hai, Aahat, CID, DON, Akela and many more.She has done many roles in Bollywood films like Sooraj Barjatya’s Vivaah, Anubah Sinha’s Tathastu and Pankaj Parasher’s Sab Gadbad Hai and Runway.She has also appeared in numerous television ads such as Fevi Quick, Aquaguard, Euroclean, Clinic Plus and print ads like HDFC, Bombay Dyeing, Aquaguard, Food Bazaar, Bank of India, etc.

Three acrobat dancers Shchukina Anna , Mashkanova alena, Bezverkhaya Katerina were  the special artists from Ukaraine to perform during the musical Nite .They performed in the Olympics team of Belarus and have performed in Europe, Russia & USA. The performances had three sequences. In  First Sequence,Aerial artist on Aerial Hoola-Hoop and the Stage Gymnasts  performed with Ribbons whereas in Second SequenceAerial artist on Aerial Double Loops and the Stage Gymnasts  performed with hoola-hoops and in the Third Sequence, The two stage gymnast  performed with props as a ball and skipping rope.

There were other  colorful activities and competitions like Rose Prince and Princess, Rose Quiz Antakshari , Photography, Kite Flying competitions  held at Leisure Valley and Rose Garden as well . With the theme “Moods of Chandigarh”, the photography Exhibition was inaugurated by P.K Chopra, Chief Commissioner Income Tax Chandigarh. Around 65 photographs put their exibits. Around 386 entries were received. In the Kite flying competition Rajan bagged the first prize ,Zankhna and Abhisha won the second and third position, respectively. The chief guest on this occasion was P.K Sirofi, Chief Commissioner Customs and Central Excise, Chandigarh. In the Rose Quiz Antakshari Competition, a total of 18 teams participated, out of which, 4 teams were selected for the final round. Pink Rose Team of Dr. Ambedkar College of Hotel Management-42 bagged the first position while Red Rose Team of GCG-11, Yellow Rose Team of SD College-32 and White Rose Team of GCG-14, Panchkula won second, third and consolation prizes, respectively.

 During the day, singing performances were held at Leisure valley where budding singers like Amanpreet, Uma Patial and Shruti Bhagat  held the onlookers followed by a special performance by Slum Children of  LEMACS. Well known Punjabi singer Jagdeep Jublee gave a live performance at Leisure valley. The Rock Band performance by “Sounds of Heaven” was enjoyed a lot by visitors. The puppet show and street play by AIDS Society was another interesting feature of the day activities.

SHAHWAR ALI An intense face with a sculpted body, Shawar Ali took over the modeling world with ease and then it was the turn of Bollywood.Shawar Ali comes from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. In his initial days as a model he won the Best Physique Award. Soon he was modeling for Calvin Klein in London. Shawar Ali’s first movie was Hawas (2004) which was inspired by the Hollywood movie Unfaithful. In Dipak Tijori’s Fareb (2005) he played a police officer. He had a part in the 2007 hit Om Shanthi Om. His next releases are Osama, Runway and sports based movie Yahan Ke Hum Sikander.Shawar Ali is an Indian actor and Model. He belongs to Non Film background in Bollywood. He is rated 93rd Rank by Web India in Top 100 Handsome Indian Men's List. The host of the evening was renowned T.V actor Hussain

 On February 28th , there will be on the spot painting competition at 10.30 followed by Rose quiz competition at 11 am at Rose Garden . The prize distribution ceremony will be held tomorrow at 3.30 pm and winners of all the competitions organized by the engineering Department will be felicitated. In the evening, a live performance by Kunal Ganjewala, a popular Bollywood singer, will be organized by the Tourism Department at Leisure Valley, Sector 10 from 7.00 PM onwards.
