HAMIRPUR: The most politically awakened district of the state Hamirpur has got lion share in the newly constituted state executive committee of the BJP.
While Rasil Singh Mankotia, the former general secretary of the district unit of the party has been named as the new Vice President, Rajendra Rana, the former Joint media in charge of the state BJP has got promotion as one of the spokespersons of the party. Rana was in news since 2003 when the party had lost power to Congress. He has been maintaining close rapport with the media since then and the party has given him reward for that. The state executive committee also includes Prem Kumar Dhumal, former chief minister and leader of opposition in state assembly, Ishwar Dass Dhiman, former Minister, former MLA, Mrs. Urmila Thakur and Pyere Lal Sharma, the former district BJP chief. While talking to the reporters on his arrival at party's district office here this morning, the new state Vice President of the party, Rasil Singh Mankotia expressed optimism that the new state executive would be able to bring back the party to power in 2008 assembly elections with the help of the state people. He said that the people were upset with the role of the Congress and were waiting for an opportunity to strike in any coming election. He thanked the party high command for giving him responsibility to act as the state Vice President adding that he would do his best to take the party on march in the state in general and the Hamirpur district in particular. Earlier, party workers garlanded Mankotia when he reached the district party office today after his nomination as the state Vice President. Vinod Thakur the general secretary of the district unit of the party led the workers to greet Mankotia in the office. Meanwhile, Rajendra Rana, the new spokesperson of the party told the Pioneer that he would do his best to preach the policies and programmes of the party to the people through media. He said that media had always played a major role in reshaping the fortune of any party and as such it would be his endeavor to maintain close liaison with the media as he was doing earlier. Rana said that with the state elections just round the corner, efforts would be made to take the message of the party to the people and to expose the real face of the ruling Congress before the people so that people were not befooled any more. He was sure that the BJP would return to power in the coming elections with thumping majority. The new spokesman also called on the former chief minister, Prem Kumar Dhumal at his Samirpur residence this afternoon and sought his blessings for carrying out the new responsibilities given to him by the party. Dhumal offered sweets to Rana and others present on this occasion and patted Rana for the work he had been doing for the party since year 2003 as the party's joint media in charge. |
