CHANDIGARH: The Congress party in Punjab have got a big leap with the results of a POLL survey conducted by HT-IBN-CNN, reputed combination of newspaper and TV channels which has claimed 41 percent votes in favour of Congress in the assembly elections to be held on February 13, 2007.
The survey published by national Daily Hindustan Times on Tuesday has sent shock waves in the camp of Shriomani Akali Dal(SAD) and alliance partner BJP who were hoping to return to power.
Even at national level rating of Congress led UPA government has shown in a position to win 300 seats against 115 by BJP and aliiance partners.
The Congress government led by Captain Amarinder Singh has thrown a big challenge to the SAD-BJP alliance over two major issues of development and performance.
The SAD-BJP government led by Parkash Singh Badal was defeated by Congress on the issue of corruption and lack of governance.
The HT-CNN-IBN survey has revealed that SAD-BJP lliance would not be getting more than 36 percent votes while BSP will get five percent and
other/indepednents would get 18 percent share in the votes.
'The state of the nation' survey has found people quite satisfactory with Congress government. In the survey, 60 percent people seemed satisfied with the state government while only 35 percent felt
dissatisfied.
The popularity of Chief Minister has gone up from 18 percent during January 2006 to 38 percent in January 2007.
