FATEHGARH SAHIB: The case of a Jagadhri based trader Rajan Sethi missing under mysterious circumstances has taken new turn with Sirhind police registering a kidnapping case against unidentified persons.
Sirhind SHO Hans Raj confirmed that the police has registered a case under section 364 of the IPC. He said that Sirhind police has recovered a body near floating restaurant but it was not of Rajan Sethi. Rajan Sethi case has come a challenge for the district Fatehgarh Sahib. Fatehgarh Sahib SSP Paramraj Singh Umaranangal had already constituted a special team led y SP Sukhwant Singh to thoroughly investigating the case. The mystery of a car that fell in Narwana branch canal near village Madhopur is yet to be solved by the police but police is still making efforts to trace Rajan Sethi, who was occupant of the car. Police has recorded the statements of the persons related to Rajan Sethi. His wife Reema's statement was also recorded. The police also got the record of all phone calls made by Rajan on that fateful night. Sources in the police department revealed that during the investigation it was found that Sethi was not in the car when it fell in the canal as the windows were locked and no glass was broken. Only one glass was broken when the police was taking out car from the canal with the help of JCB machine. Another fact was that Sethi could not come out of the car easily as he was obese. Police suspected that Sethi had gone underground and hiding somewhere. Sources said that during the police investigation , the police had come to know that he was under debt. He was living in a rented house and running business from a rented shop. Moreover, he was the adopted son of Chaman Lal. His cell phone record revealed that at about 10.02 pm he made a call to his wife telling that he was near the floating restaurant and was leaving for Jagadhari. The call lasted for 74 seconds. At 10.04 pm he made another call to his friend Anmol saying that his car had fallen in a canal and he was drowning. The police also investigated Sethi's bank accounts at Jagadhri to ascertain as to how much amount he withdrew from banks. Sources said that no big amount was withdrawn by Sethi on the day when he had gone missing. Sources said that persons related to Sethi were giving different versions and it appeared that he told lies to everyone. Sources said presently his cell phone was switched off, if he had drowned then it should have been out of the coverage area. It may be mentioned here that the mystery shrouds the sudden disappearance of a Jagadhri-based trader Rajan Sethi, who went missing under mysterious circumstances while his car was recovered from Narwana branch Canal recently near Madhopur chowk on Sirhind Patiala road . |
