AMRITSAR: Electorates of Amritsar Lok Sabha seat, maitained faith in former Cricketer and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu who Tuesday won by-election for Amritsar Lok Sabha seat against Surinder Singla, the State Finance Minister.
Sidhu defeated Singla by 77,626 votes. Sidhu had earlier resigned on moral grounds from the Lok Sabha seat after the Punjab and Haryana High Court pronounced him convicted in a road rage death case. He had managed to garner 99,000 votes in the last Lok Sabha elections. Expressing gratitude towards God, Sidhu thanked citizens of the holy city for reaffirming faith in him. He said that he would deliver on the promises he made to the people. He informed that he had prepared a vision paper for the holistic development of the city. He expressed his concern over the poor sanitation, pitiable education and health system in the city. He said that Special Economic Zone would be revived and would be set up here to revive the industry. |
