CHANDIGARH: The Bhartiya Janta Party an alliance partner of Shiromani Akali Dal(SAD) in Punjab has played its card for induction of Deputy Chief Minister from among the BJP MLA's even as BJP legislature party wednesday elected Manornanja Kalia its leader in the house.

SAD-BJP alliance is going to form government in Punjab on March 2 and it is expected that  BJP senior leaders have been bargaining with SAD president Parkash Singh Badal, the CM in waiting.

Manoranjan Kalia, elected from Jalandhar central seat was health minsiter in the last SAD-BJP government. It is understood that if BJP gets post of DY CM, Kalia would be the party choice.

BJP has won total 19 seats out of 23 for the Vidhan Sabha and it’s only because of the BJP that SAD has came back and will form the government. The party hasn’t decided for the post of Deputy Chief Minister from their candidates yet.

Talking to the mediapersons at Punjab Bhawan, BJP state president, Avinash Rai Khanna has clearly said they hoped and keep aspirations that the Dy.CM should be from among our party MLA's. He however added that power sharing would be very smooth.

The same views were cited by BJP national secretary Arun Jaitely while addressing joint press conference with SAD president Parkash Singh Badal during the day. Replying to questions he had said that they have not yet applied mind to appoint Dy CM and no talks on the issue were held between the two parties. Badal had also skipped the question saying that Jaitely had already answered it.

If BJP get through its proposal it would be first time that any non-congress government would have post of Dy CM. In the Amarinder Singh government, Rajinder Kaur Bhattal was appointed Dy CM to maintain the balance of power after revolt by certain MLA's against Amarinder Singh.
