CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda Tuesday took a strong exception to the indecent behaviour and unparliamentary language used by former Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala before the start of question hour in the on going Budget Session of the State Assembly here.
The Chief Minister, who was interacting with the mediapersons in the press lobby of the Vidhan Sabha here, said that never before he had witnessed any legislature behaving in such an undemocratic manner as was of Chautala. As Chautala had tried to disrupt the proceedings of the House even before the commencement of the question hour by pointing out that the motion of condemnation passed against him be withdrawn, Hooda said that it was shocking as he, when he was Member Parliament, never witnessed any such situation in which the question hour was conducted. Hooda said that in case of any need to skip the question hour, one has to move a resolution and seek permission of the House. However, Hooda was all praise for the Speaker, Dr. Raghubir Singh Kadian for exercising restrain despite provocations by Chautala, who even used abusive language against the Chair. Chautala, he said, crossed all limits. In case one could not uphold the dignity of the Chair, one could not maintain the dignity of the House. Hooda said that in case Chautala had realized his mistake, the House could reconsider its decision on condemnation resolution against him. He said that the people in the State were very angry with the manner in which Chautala and members of his party have behaved during the ongoing session so for. They had floated all the norms of the democratic system. In reply to a question regarding the funds collected on behalf of former Prime Minister of Fiji, Mahender Chaudhary, Hooda said that Chaudhary had met him before elections and told him that he had not received even a single penny from the funds collected by Chautala. He said that Chautala had urged the people that each of them should donate Rs one to help Chaudhary. As a result of this call, about Rs two crore were collected by Chautala. Some Panchayats and Institutions had also donated for the same. He said that the issue was part of the investigation being conducted by the CBI. When Hooda's attention was drawn towards the investigation being conducted by the CBI against Chautala and members of his family saying that the Central Agency be urged to expedite its investigation, Hooda said that State Government had full faith in the functioning of the CBI as it was an independent agency and he would not interfere. He reiterated that he never took any action out of political vandata. He said that he was born and brought up in political culture. Also, the issue of Devi Lal Trust was part of CBI investigation, he added. |
