ROPAR: Saini Bhawan Managing Committee, Ropar has demanded the inclusion of Saini Community in the Other Backward Classes for reservation in government jobs and educational institutions.

A resolution to this effect was passed during a silver jubilee Saini Sammelan organised by the Saini Bhawan managing committee at local Sani Bhawan.

The Saini Sammelan also demanded the proportional representation to the Saini Community in the legislative, executive and judicial wings of the government.

The Sammelan called upon the Saini community to fight against evils like dowry, female foeticide, drug addiction, extragavanza and vulgar display of wealth on the marriages.

The Sammelan was attended among others by the local MLA Sant Ajit Singh, former MLA Giani Zail Singh, Noted Tube well engineer Gurnam Singh, All India Saini federation president Surjit Singh Sherry, Punjab Education department deputy director Dr.Ajmer Singh, Saini Bhawan managing committee president L.R.Mundra and general secretary Balbir Singh Saini.

During the Sammelan various issues confronting the Saini community were discussed and it was decided to make concerted efforts for the economic, social and political upliftment of the community.
