Haryana to hold JET for Polytechnics on June 2

CHANDIGARH: The entrance test for admission to different polytechnics for diploma in Engineering and Technology, Office Management and Computer Application (OMCA) , Library and Information Science will be conducted at various centres in Haryana and Chandigarh on June 2 this year from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.



While stating this, here Monday, a spokesman of Haryana Technical Education Department said that the admission forms could be purchased from any Government or Government aided polytechnic of the State on payment of Rs.500 for candidates of general category and Rs.125 for girls and candidates of reserve category of Haryana from April 20 to May 18,2007 during working hours. He made it clear that candidates belonging to reserved category would have to produce requisite certificate in support of their claim at the time of purchase of prospectus.

The last date to submit duly filled in application forms alongwith a demand draft of Rs 500, payable to Haryana State Counseling Society, is May 18,2007. The information is also available on website www.techeduhry.nic.in. The admit card would be made available on website from May 28,2007 and the same may also be downloaded. It would also be displayed on notice boards of all Government and Government aided polytechnics. In case of any problem, the candidates are advised to contact Principal or admission incharge of the concerned institution where the application form has been submitted. The results will be declared on website by June 9,2007.

As many as 20,000 seats in more than 30 disciplines at over 50 polytechnics are likely to be filled up this time whereas more than 60,000 students had applied for 12,000 seats last year and admissions were done on the basis of joint merit of qualifying examination and diploma entrance test. However, for admission in 2007-08, the merit of diploma entrance test would be considered.

No entrance examination test shall be conducted for admission to Pharmacy, Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT),Industrial Personnel Management (IPM) and Business Administration diploma programmes. Admission to these courses would be done on the basis of merit of qualifying examination. Separate bulletin will be issued for admission to these courses. Similarly, separate bulletin will be published for admission under lateral entry scheme to second year diploma programmes for Industrial Training Institute and 10 plus two vocational candidates.
