CHANDIGAH: The Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Tuesday announced the state government's commitment to complete the requisite modalities for recruitment of B.Ed. teachers.

Talking to the delegation of B.Ed. Unemployed Teachers Front, Punjab he said that the government was keen to complete the whole process with in next two months in order to facilitate a smooth transition  in to the next academic session beginning in July.

Badal said that the state government intends to put the teachers at the center stage of government's vision of education and would undertake a comprehensive initiative to raise their social standing and economic status. Expressing deep concern over what he described total collapse of  educational structure especially at the primary and secondary levels, Mr. Badal directed the Education Department Punjab to formulate a policy aimed at lifting the academic and intellectual standards of students to equip them with skills needed for competitive excellence not only with in the country but also globally.

He further said that concepts of Adarsh Schools was also an important component of the state government's approach to the issue. He said that education could be meaningful only if it was made accessible to the poorest of the poor, with special focus on mentally gifted but economically weaker students. He also added that an elitist approach education had resulted in the academic crisis now grip the state. The Chief Minister said that budgetary share for education would be appropriable reserved to subsidize quality education for the intelligent poor students.

Prominent amongst others who attended the meeting including Education Minister Upinderjit Kaur, and Principal Secretary School Education  KBS Sidhu.
