Haryana busts gang of Satta operators in Gurgaon Print E-mail

CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Police has busted a gang of eight persons in Gurgaon recently as they were found involved in satta on semi-final cricket match of World Cup between Newzeland and Sri Lanka.
 

Giving this information, a spokesman of Police Department said that during the intervening night of  April 24 and 25, Mr. Jai Pal, SHO, Sector 56, Gurgaon got a secret information  that Bobby Gujral, a resident of  22-B, Malcha Marg, New Delhi having mobile No. 9811779000 was engaged in satta on cricket match with his  colleagues.All these were involved in on line satta on cricket  and all these had  mobiles with  fake IDs.

The Gurgaon police has registered a case against them under Section 98 of Gambling Act in Sector 56 Police Station, Gurgaon . They were interogated on the basis of mobile, computer diary and call details received from them. It was revealed in the enquiry that 139 mobile numbers on different  networks were used during the satta and mobile phone calls were made at Mumbai, Delhi, Rajasthan and Punjab. He said that the phone used by the gang were of  Tata, Hutch, Airtel, Reliance, Idea and BPL.
 
He said that all these companies were written to disconnect the identified mobile phones with immediate effect as these phones were used to execute satta. The companies were also asked to close 139 mobiles under Section 149 of Punishment Procedure Code 1973.  Besides, they had been asked to provide all the relevant record of those who had got the connection.

The main culprit in the match fixing namely Gurpreet Singh alias Bobby Gujral had been identified and he had not been arrested so far by the police.It was hoped that he might flee to a foreign country to avoid arrest so all the immigration check posts, airports, seaports and LOC had been asked to keep strict vigil on him.

He said that the Gurgaon police had also succeeded in arresting an accused Shashi for murdering his wife. The police had also recovered the knife which was used to murder her. A case was registered against him. The accused was arrested from Sheetla Mata Road on Dewali Khanpur, Delhi.
